Download Total Defense

Please follow these instructions to download the ISO image of the Total Defense installation DVD to your computer. To simplify the download process, we offer an integrated Download Manager that will download the ISO image for you.

Note: Before starting the download process, please make sure that your machine has the latest operating system patches applied. You need to be logged in with an administrative equivalent account to install the Download Manager. It is also important to make sure that any firewall installed on your computer is not preventing the Download Manager from running successfully.

The creation of a Total Defense installation DVD is a three-step process:

  1. Install and launch the Download Manager. (Verify below that you meet the minimum system requirements.)
  2. Download the ISO image of the Total Defense installation DVD to your computer.
    The file is 3GB and download times will vary depending on your network bandwidth. A typical 10MBS network bandwidth should take approximately one hour. Please verify system requirements before proceeding with installation.
  3. Burn the ISO image onto a blank DVD.

Download Total Defense using the integrated Download Manager:

To simplify the download process, we offer an integrated Download Manager that will download the Total Defense ISO image for you.
  1. Click the “Download Now” button (below) to start the download process. An “Akamai NetSession” dialog will be displayed with instructions on how to install Download Manager.
  2. After completing the download and installation of Download Manager, a “Save As” dialog box will be displayed asking you where you wish to save the TotalDefense ISO file (what is an ISO image/file?). The default location for your ISO image download is the Desktop. If preferred, select a different download location for your ISO image, then click Save.
  3. Download Manager will start downloading the ISO file, saving it to your computer. The progress and total download size of the file will be displayed during the download.
  4. (Optional) To pause the download, click the Pause button. The button will then changes to a Resume button allowing you to resume the download at a convenient time.
    Note: Downloads can be resumed if you close your browser before the download is completed or if Download Manager ends unexpectedly. Restart your browser, point it back to this URL/page and click the “Download Now” button below. Download Manager will resume the interrupted download.
  5. When the download is complete, use the downloaded ISO file in conjunction with your favorite ISO image burner program to create the Total Defense installation DVD. If needed, a freeware ISO burner program is available from the following web site. Note: As an alternative to burning the ISO file to DVD, you can also consider using a free Archiving program like 7-Zip and WinRAR which will be able to read the contents of the downloaded ISO file directly.

Should Download Manager fail to start, or if you do not accept the security certificate, you can click here to download the ISO file without using the download manager.

Server Requirements for small to medium sites (<1000 endpoints):

*CPUs with lower specifications have not been tested, though might be capable if the CPU speed/model is close to the above.
**A Management Server with 1 GB of RAM supports a maximum of 250 endpoints and one partition. It should be used only for basic tasks, such as viewing the Dashboard, and does not support the creation, management, or deployment of Proactive Protection policies. These restrictions disappear if you upgrade the Management Server to 2 GB or more.
